Denger rame-rame berita bencana Tsunami, salah satu temen kantor gue terbengong-bengong.

Nggak sampe setahun yang lalu, dia masih kerja di sebuah pabrik di NAD.

Seluruh kompleks pabrik dan perumahan karyawannya ada di sebuah teluk terpencil, sedemikian terpencilnya sehingga untuk berkomunikasi mereka harus menggunakan telepon satelit.

Dia memutuskan menerima tawaran pindah kerja ke perusahaan gue karena dia kepingin lebih deket sama anak istrinya, yang semuanya tinggal di Jakarta.

Denger berita Tsunami, dia jadi ngebayangin perumahan karyawan yang cuma 20m dari pantai. Dan komunikasi satelit juga terputus, mgk krn ground unitnya rusak kehantem banjir. Ga ada yang tau gimana keadaan di sana sekarang. Bala bantuan teknisi untuk menghidupkan kembali komunikasi satelit diterbangkan dari Jakarta. Sesampainya di NAD mereka stuck di airport karena nggak ada angkutan yang mau membawa mereka ke lokasi, 18 km dari airport. Dan ngelewati daerah gerilya GAM. Berita terakhir mereka menghubungi pihak TNI untuk bisa membantu mengantar ke lokasi.

Temen gue miris sendiri waktu mikir, seandainya aja dia membuat keputusan yang berbeda waktu ada tawaran pindah kerja itu, sekarang mungkin dia masih ada di sana. Di rumahnya yang cuma 20 meter dari pantai itu. Tempat dia suka ngopi pagi2 di beranda yang menghadap ke pantai. Dan dia bersyukur.

Ada rahasia Tuhan di balik setiap pilihan yang kita buat.

  3. Syukur Alhamdulillah banget ya, untung temen kantornya Agung gak nerusin tinggal di NAD. Tapi itu memang udah jadi rahasia Ilahi syi, ada aja jalannya kalau memang belum waktunya ditimpa musibah. Biar udah menghindar-menghindar, kalau udah waktunya diuji Allah ya …kejadian aja.

    Oh yes.. definitely.. I always believe so. I have two friends who were supposed to be 1) At Penang 2) At Phuket.The one who was supposed to be at the Penang beach was pissed off on Thursday as she had to attend to something important in Singapore, that she had to cancel her weekend trip to Penang which she had already paid for… Little that she knew that the money she forfeited for the trip, she actually paid for her life, her mum’s and sister’s lives as well.The one supposed to be in Phuket was also pissed off as the boat she was supposed to go diving on was confiscated by the Indonesian navy for crossing the international water boundaries and entering Indonesia without permit. She blamed the diving school for being inefficient. Hence the diving trip had to be cancelled and she ended up having dinner of bakso with me at the Esteller 77 instead. While we were eating, we got a call to say that the whole of Phuket was wiped out and the boat she was supposed to be on is no where in sight…Subhanallah. What careful planning Allah has made!
